Piority Processing Effective From 23 September 2009
The Minister for Immigration and Citizenship has set new priority processing arrangements for certain Skilled migration Visas. These arrangements are designed to better address the needs of industry by targeting skills in critical need across a number of sectors. The direction applies to applications have been finalized and will effective on every application after September 2009.

Priority processing :-
The Minister for Immigration and Citizenship power to consider and finalize visa applications in an order of priority that the Minister considers appropriate. The Minister has set priority processing arrangements which apply to the following visas from September 2009:

- EMPLOYER NOMINATION SCHEME (ENS)
- REGIONAL SPONSORED MIGRATION SCHEME (RSMS)
- GENERAL SKILLED MIGRATION (GSM) visas except for :
  1. Skilled-Recognized Graduate Subclass 476
  2. Skilled-Designated Ares-Sponsored (Residence) Subclass 883
  3. Skilled-Regional Subclass 887


Under the Ministerial Direction, the following processing priorities apply
  - Applications from people who are Employer Sponsored under the ENS and the RSMS
  - Applications from people who are nominated by a State/Territory Government and whose nominated   occupation is listed on the CRITICAL SKILLS LIST (CSL) as mentioned below
  - Applications from people who are sponsored by family and whose nominated occupation is listed on   the CSL
  - Applications from people who are neither nominated nor sponsored but whose nominated
  occupation is listed on the CSL
  - Applications from people who are nominated by a State/Territory Government whose nominated   occupation is not listed on the CSL
  - Application from people whose occupations are listed on the Migration Occupations in Demand List   (MODL)

 

Skilled Workers

How do you Qualify?
The Skilled Stream of Australia’s Migration Program is specifically designed to target the migrants who have skills or outstanding abilities that will contribute to the Australian economy. The Australian Government is committed to turn the emphasis of the Migration Program increasingly towards skilled migration, while maintaining a commitment to family reunion migration.

The overall skill level of migrants entering Australia has been increasing in the recent years. The basic requirements for the Skilled Worker are: Age- which should be below 45 years, Proficiency in English and Educational Qualification- which is assessed by the relevant Assessment Authority, suitable for the nominated occupation. The applicant must nominate a skilled occupation which suits his/her skills, qualifications and recent work experience and that occupation must be on the Skilled Occupations List.

If the applicant does not obtain sufficient points for one of the Skilled Visas, then he/she should consider a Matching Visa. This particular Visa is not point tested. An applicant, for a Matching Visa must have been employed in a skilled occupation for at least six months in the twelve months before applying for immigration. The applicant must also satisfy the requirements for skill, be under the age of forty-five years and have proficiency in English language.

To apply for this Visa, the applicants must have their qualifications and experience assessed by an Assessment Authority. If the qualifications and experience are found to be satisfactory, then an application can be filed for the Matching Visa. All the documentation required for a Visa must be lodged at the time of filing the Visa application.

To gain the benefits from this Visa, the applicants must be prepared to initially accept a job anywhere in Australia. A prospective employer will sign a contract with the applicant for a certain period of time. Once that period has expired or is terminated by mutual agreement or otherwise, the client is free to take up a position anywhere in Australia.

Employment Prospects
Since the geography and culture of Australia is so diverse, the job opportunities available here are incredibly diverse too. You may even be able to gain recognition in Australia for the educational qualifications you have gained, before entering Australia. This will make your employment search even easier.   - Have net value of business & personal assets (including spousal assets) at least A$ 250,000 and are   available for transfer to Australia within 2 years after the grant of visa, plus sufficient assets available to   settle in Australia;
  - Be aged less than 55 years at the time of application

Migrating to Australia as Business Owner
To be eligible under this category the applicant should have an overall successful business career
  - Annual turnover of at least A$ 500,000 in the main business or main businesses for at least 2 of the 4   fiscal years immediately before the application for visa is submitted.
  - Net value of business & personal assets (including spousal assets) is at least A$ 500,000 which are   available for transfer to Australia within 2 years after the grant of a visa, plus sufficient assets available   to settle in Australia.
  - Age less than 45 years at the time of application.
  - Vocational English i.e. scoring 5 bands in IELTS examination.

State / Territory Sponsored Business Owner
To be eligible under this category the applicant should have :
